24-25 Class 8th Grade Dave and Busters Trip 11/26/24

Dear Parents/Caregivers, 

On Thursday, November 26th , our 8th Grade students will take their first 8th grade trip to Dave and Busters. We expect the memory of this day to be one student's treasure for years to come.  Please note that participation in all upcoming 8th grade activities is contingent upon behavior and overall academic standing. Factors that influence a child’s overall standing include lateness, class performance, behavior, effort, attitude, and grades. A conduct grade of N, for any reason, is  grounds for exclusion in such events.

The cost of the trip is $35.  This price includes a full buffet, unlimited soda, an unlimited video game card and a $20 Power Card for each guest.The buffet will include Burgers, Crispy Chicken Bites, Cheese Pizza Bites, Mac & Cheese, Fries and unlimited soda. Payment and permission authorization for this trip  can be found via our website at www.is27.org under the School Store/Online Payments tab. Cash will not be accepted. The deadline to register is Wednesday, November 13 th. There will be no exceptions made for payment or registering past this date.

To ensure that the trip is both enjoyable and safe for all students, several points must be emphasized.  Please review these points with your child (and save this notice for future reference):

  • Buses will leave Prall at approximately 10:30 A.M. Buses will depart Dave and Busters at 1:15. Students will be at regular dismissal at the end of the day, 2:00 P.M.

  • Students opting not to attend and/or students excluded from participation are expected to attend school on the day of the trip and will be given an alternative program.

a) I agree that in the event of an emergency injury or illness, the staff member(s) in charge of the trip may act on my behalf and at my expense in obtaining medical treatment for my child. 

b) I understand that my child is expected to behave responsibly and to follow the school’s discipline code and policies. 

c) I agree and understand that I am responsible for the actions of my child. I release the school from all claims and liability that arise in connection with the trip, except if due to the negligence of school officials.

d) I understand that I am responsible for getting my child to and from the departure and return sites identified above. I understand that my child shall be accompanied by staff member(s) during the trip, including while traveling from the departure site to the destination site, and from the destination site to the return site.

e) I understand that alcoholic beverages and/or illegal drugs are prohibited and have discussed this prohibition with my child. I understand that if my child is found in possession of these substances, he/she will be subject to school disciplinary procedures and possible criminal prosecution.

f) I understand that students who violate the school's discipline code may be excluded in the future by the school from participating in a trip.

 

*Any student wishing to participate in the 8th grade trip must meet the school's behavior requirements and be in good standing in all their classes, which includes maintaining a satisfactory rating in their behavior. Students are expected to arrive on time to class and refrain from using cell phones during instructional time. Those who cannot adhere to these standards will not be permitted to attend the trip, as we want to ensure a positive and safe experience for all participants.
